The Birth of Sweet Lila Grace| Bella Donna Birth Center in Jacksonville, NC
Some births unfold slowly, with hours of waiting and watching.
And some births arrive quickly, asking everyone in the room to simply trust the rhythm of what is already happening.
Sweet Lila Grace’s birth was one of those fast, sacred stories. When I arrived at Bella Donna Midwifery at La Vita Bella Birth Center in Jacksonville, North Carolina, everything was already moving quickly.
Mama was deep in the birthing realm.
Fully in her body. Fully in her breath. Working with each wave as she brought her sweet girl earthside.
There was no extra noise in the room. No rushing that felt frantic. Just this steady, focused kind of energy as everyone around her moved with so much care.
Dad was steady and present through it all. He stayed close, offered his voice, his hands, and his calm, and supported her in such a beautiful way.
Exactly where she needed him to be.
The midwife and birth assistants at Bella Donna were phenomenal. They moved with confidence and tenderness, quietly holding the space while also giving mama exactly what she needed in the moment. It was such a beautiful thing to witness, especially with how quickly this birth unfolded.
There was no time for overthinking. No time to step outside of what her body already knew how to do. Mama was in it completely, breathing through each wave, listening to her body, and surrendering to the moment in front of her.
That is one of the most powerful parts of a fast birth. Everything asks you to be present. The room changes quickly. The energy shifts. And then, almost all at once, the baby you have been waiting for is right there.
Sweet Lila Grace was so close.
And then, she was here.
Sweet Lila Grace.
One of the most tender moments of her birth story was watching Dad help bring her up onto mama’s chest, helping place their daughter exactly where she belonged.
Those first moments after birth are always surreal.
The relief.
The wonder.
The exhaustion.
The quiet joy.
The way time seems to slow down, even after everything just happened so quickly.
Lila Grace was finally in mama’s arms, tucked close against her chest, surrounded by so much love. The room softened around them. Dad stayed close. Her birth team continued caring for them with the same tenderness and steadiness that had carried the whole birth.
Sweet Lila Grace, you were breathed into this world with so much love.
Your mama was strong.
Your dad was steady.
Your birth team was incredible.
And your birth story was beautiful.
